National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women – Ottawa Vigil

On December 6, 1989, 14 women were killed by a man in the engineering school at Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique. Parliament designated December 6 at the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This year marks the 34th Anniversary since the massacre at L’École Polytechnique in Montreal. We honour the 14 women who were murdered and the lives of those who were taken by violence against women or gender-based violence within Ottawa and the surrounding area.

Join CRCVC at the Women’s Monument at Minto Park (102 Lewis St, Ottawa, ON K2P 0S7) on Wednesday, December 6th at 6pm EST for a candlelight vigil and ceremony.
