CRCVC Executive Director implores the parole board to prioritize victims’ safety in their decisions.

“Paroling him would perpetuate the suffering of victims and their families and undermine the safety and well-being of our community. We implore you to consider the broader implications of this decision and to prioritize the rights and safety of the innocent over any other consideration,” she wrote.

 

She further explains that victims do not have any formal process of complaint if their rights have been violated and that the mandates of both the PBC and CSC are to “rehabilitate and reintegrate.” Many times victims have to relive and rewrite letters as parole hearings are cancelled and rescheduled by offenders.
